Introducing the book 'Crimson Fall: A Ronny & Jo Mystery'
The second book from our publishing house Mind u Read Media
Hi there,
It’s been a while since I’ve posted here.
Part of the blame can be attributed to X (Twitter). I now have the ability to publish longer posts there, and do so. As a result I have become infrequent here.
In recent times I’ve posted about Jawan, about how art is a powerful medium for social change and how Shahrukh Khan has revived that tradition in Bollywood.
I also posted quite a bit about Rajinikanth’s Jailer, about how the second half of the movie had me scratching my head, but more importantly—wondering what and who we were cheering for in the film. Do read, and you can ponder along with me.
I posted this out-of-the-line take on Adipurush—well, I loved the movie. Prabhas fans went berserk after reading this particular post; check the comments on the post to join in the fun.
And yes, one more long post about how Sandeep Reddy Vanga hijacks our attention with his trailers; this time with Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal.
There are many more such posts, so incase you are on X don’t forget to connect with me @KartikDayanand. But I promise that I’ll try and share as much as I can, and as often as I can, over here too.
Now the second part of why I went missing from Substack:
As most of you know, Mind u Read Media, the publication house that my wife Anu and I established, brought out its first book ‘Boomer.Misfit.Same Difference…’ by Lolita Chattoraj Sengupta, in November 2022. This autobiographical humorous book had a fantastic launch in Kolkata and has been doing quite well since then. It’s available on Amazon and I urge you to pick it up if you want to read a fun, yet hard-hitting take on life.
Since then we’ve been busy talking to a few authors and one particular idea really excited us—a detective series that reads like a movie screenplay. Our authors had a fantastic story with a lineup of memorable characters that we fell in love with instantly.
Here’s a peek of what you will find in the first book:
US-based Indian tech multimillionaire couple Ronny & Jo embark on a life of sleuthing, aided by trusted friends and others they befriend along their journey. They chase around Washington, D.C.'s national capital region, in search of a missing 26-year-old. While following their pursuit you’ll get to flavour the lives of vulnerable desi tech workers trying to find a foothold in the US.
The first book ‘Crimson Fall: A Ronny & Jo Mystery’ is now available worldwide in eBook and Paperback formats.

There are three other books in the pipeline in the ‘Ronny & Jo Mysteries’ series and we are working to get them out soon.
Now let me introduce the incredible authors.
Interestingly, they are an author couple based out of the US, just like Ronny & Jo.
Meet longtime partners Swati Chanda and Narendra Desirazu who go by the combined pen name of Tara Dee.
Swati is the author of Drowning Fish (Hachette) and Switcheroos!: Topsy-Turvy Mysteries of Markiposa (Penguin-Puffin). She has taught literature in colleges, worked for nonprofit organizations, helped grow crops on a farm, and is devoted to upcycled and repurposed art projects.
Narendra has worked in the IT industry where he founded and sold a tech startup, ran a business renting art to corporates, and built an organic farm growing specialty limes. He currently teaches at a university in Washington, D.C. Narendra’s science fiction and slice-of-life stories have been published in anthologies in the US.
Anu and I have been working closely with Swati and Narendra for many months now to bring out this fantastic book to life, and are proud of how it has shaped up.
I am sure you will enjoy reading the book too. And here’s a suggestion: Consider ‘Crimson Fall: A Ronny & Jo Mystery’ when you are looking to gift someone a book.
Do keep an eye on our website mindureadmedia.com for details of upcoming books.
And remember, if you have a story to tell, you will find eager listeners in us. We’ll help you bring your thoughts to life. Just fill the form on this page and we can get started.
So that’s it from my end for now. Hope the wait for a new post here was worth it. I promise I’ll be regular from now. See you again soon.
And yes…wishing the Indian Cricket team the best to win the World Cup final tomorrow : )
Till then, cheers!!!
